We are excited to announce that the application process for the 2026 Texas Women in Conservation Terry Hershey Award is now open!
This prestigious award honors outstanding women who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in conservation, environmental stewardship, and community engagement across Texas. The nomination criteria and application are available online and will remain open until Friday, January 30, 2026. We encourage you to nominate a woman who has made a significant impact in the field. Let’s come together to celebrate and honor the incredible women shaping the future of conservation in Texas!
The award was established in 2015 in honor of the late Terry Hershey, who dedicated much of her life to ecological conservation efforts in Houston and throughout Texas. Mrs. Hershey was a former member of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission and a founding board member of Bayou Preservation Association, Houston Audubon Society, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Research Center, The Park People, and Urban Harvest. She was also a past board member for Audubon Texas, the National Audubon Society, National Recreation and Park Association, and The Trust for Public Land.
Becoming a member supports our local work protecting birds and the places they need.
Planned gifts and bequests allow you to provide a lasting form of support to Audubon Texas.
