Almost anything can be used as a loom! In this workshop we will learn to make a beautiful woven object d'art on a forked tree branch and explore other found-object looms: books, rocks, sea shells and more. Off-loom weaving can transform everyday objects through a variety of textile techniques.
Instructions will include: material selection, methods and techniques.
All materials will be provided for the workshop.
Meet the teacher: June Covington is the 2025 Summer Artist in Residence at The Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center. She works at Oil & Cotton Creative Exchange in Dallas where she has long taught introductory classes and workshops in weaving and spinning.
Her focus is on exploring the artistic possibilities within historical techniques and materials. In her own art practice, she weaves tapestries and fabric from hand processed, hand spun yarn.
This beginning weaving workshop is limited to 8 adult (18 and up) participants.
Tickets are $60.00 which includes all supplies, supports the artist, and donates to Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center.
