This Spring break, Trinity River Audubon Center is proud to launch its Environmental Action Leadership Intensive. This 4-day program meets 9am-2pm at the Trinity River Audubon Center and introduces students to environmental action as an entire process. Each day focuses on a different step in the process of enacting change to protect our planet: Research, Communication, Advocacy, and Implementation. During each day, students will meet working professionals to discuss their career paths and the role they play in advancing environmental action. Both at the Audubon Center and on field trips, students will get hands on experience with habitat restoration and biological surveys and will learn how to effectively communicate scientific findings to drive positive change. Throughout the week, participants will work on a project creating a wholistic strategy to tackle one of the major environmental issues of our time.
This intensive is perfect for any high school student passionate about protecting the natural world--and will be especially useful for students looking to pursue a career in environmental science, science communication, or environmental advocacy.
Guests include professionals from:
- Audubon Texas
- The Cornell Lab of Ornithology
- The Dallas Morning News
- Trinity Park Conservancy
- And more to be announced!
Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of all four days of the intensive.
Each day runs 9am-2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 03/17 - 03/20
Participants may join an optional scientific survey in Downtown Dallas on Thursday morning, being dropped off at 5:50am. Breakfast Provided. If participants choose not to join, they can meet at TRAC at the normal time.
A lunch option will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own snack as well.
After registration, a liability and medical information form will be sent out and must be returned before participants can begin.
