Few things are as interesting, lively and beautiful as birds.  They brighten up the landscape and fill our gardens with their beautiful music. Learn to identify and keep track of the birds you see, how to use your binoculars, and how to recognize different birds by their call. Following the lecture you will hike the trails of the Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center in search of the many birds that reside in our North Texas home.   Be sure to bring your binoculars and dress for the weather. Please call (469) 526.1980 to register; we have a limited class set of binoculars available for use.

Nature Play in The Wood

The Wood is a nature space dedicated to connecting children to the outside world and the wonders it holds. Studies suggest that contact with nature at a very young age is critical in fostering positive attitudes towards the outdoors and appreciation of nature later in life. Designed with younger ages in mind, The Wood features picnic areas, an arts and crafts grove, space to build habitats and homes, and an Explorer Loop trail for our smallest naturalists who are not quite ready for the full trails. All children must be supervised by an adult, and we encourage parents to share in their children’s play and creativity. Animal costumes, small musical instruments, and building blocks are available to check out at the reception desk for use in The Wood.
